Mattel Creations has announced the highly anticipated release of a new Hot Wheels collaboration set for April 18th at 9 AM PT. This exclusive collectible features a 1:64 scale die-cast replica of the Mercedes-Benz Project G-Class, designed by the renowned Japanese designer NIGO in partnership with the luxury Italian fashion brand Moncler. This item mimics the full-sized art piece that debuted as part of the Moncler Genius program.
The Hot Wheels model brilliantly captures the essence of “Project G-Class Past II Future,” merging the iconic rugged design of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class with Moncler’s signature style and NIGO’s unique streetwear influence. This miniature car features an eye-catching two-tone exterior in grey and green, highlighted by luxurious golden accents. A notable element is the removable hardtop, which showcases the iconic quilted pattern of Moncler’s puffer jackets.
The attention to detail extends to the interior, which faithfully replicates the custom design of the full-scale vehicle. It features a detailed replica of the custom sound system and incorporates Moncler’s classic tartan upholstery, adding a touch of high fashion to this off-road icon. The model is constructed with a ZAMAC body and includes custom Real Riders wheels, ensuring a premium feel and finish.
This collaboration marks the second partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Moncler, following their previous initiative, “Project Mondo G.” NIGO, the founder of A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and the creative director of KENZO, contributes his distinctive vision to this project, blending ’90s automotive design with modern streetwear elements. The full-sized Mercedes-Benz Project G-Class Past II Future will have only 20 units produced. It draws inspiration from the G 450 d and G 550 models and features a similar two-tone paint job, checkered upholstery, and a rear-mounted spare wheel emblazoned with the collaboration logo.
